The PSI Banten Regional Board held a seminar titled “Creating a Modern, Professional, and Accountable Political Party.” The event discussed the ideal political party system and character needed to represent public interests in Indonesia’s democracy.
The seminar also addressed the urgency of the Asset Confiscation Bill as a crucial step to eradicate corruption. PSI Banten third deputy chair M. Bima Januri said the bill is not just about law enforcement but also about recovering state losses and sending a strong deterrent message to corrupt officials.
“We believe the Asset Confiscation Bill is a comprehensive solution to fight corruption. By confiscating assets obtained through corruption, the state can recover losses and send a clear message that corruption will not be tolerated. PSI, as a party open to public aspirations, will continue to monitor the bill’s passage even before it becomes widely discussed by media and society,” Bima said in a written statement on Saturday (20/9).
Bima emphasized PSI Banten’s commitment to building support and actively participating in the bill’s approval process. The party will continue communicating with stakeholders and intensifying public outreach.
“We call on all elements of society to unite in supporting the bill. Fighting corruption is our shared responsibility. PSI structures at all levels will work shoulder to shoulder with stakeholders concerned about anti-corruption issues,” he concluded.
The seminar drew academics, students, and PSI Tangerang city council members including Yusa’ Farchan, Silvanus Alvin, and Theresia Megawati. (I-1)
