Localin App. Liputan6.com/Pramita Tristiawati
Liputan6.com, Jakarta - The startup world is growing rapidly with rising demand for technology solutions. Especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, many startups are built to help users stay comfortable at home or move around safely in their city.
One solution people need is an app that helps them find local information when visiting another city for tourism, business, or daily life.
“Usually, users use apps to plan their trip to a destination city. Then what will they do there? How do they find information in that place?” said Bima Januri, CEO of Localin, on Thursday (17/9/2020).
Bima introduced Localin as an app designed to help users find information where they are. It can guide them to dining spots, hotels, events, and attractions.
“This platform also has a feature that sets it apart from other apps: communities. This feature helps users create, grow, or find the communities they want while sharing information and organizing activities for members,” he said.
To access premium features and create a community, each community only needs to pay Rp 10,000 per year.
Community as a Target
Bima said communities are a main target audience for the app. Internal research shows many communities want features that make interaction and activity planning easier.
“51.4 percent of respondents said they are part of one or more communities. The rest plan to join a community in the future,” he said.
Most respondents want an app that addresses community needs, including event creation (60 percent), chat (58.7 percent), and finding new members (44 percent).
“Many respondents feel there has never been a platform that accommodates their community needs. We are designing it to meet those demands,” he added.
Local News Feature
To help users stay informed about their location, the app also offers a local news feature.
The feature is curated so only relevant news appears based on the user’s location, drawing from credible local and national media.
“We link local news from the user’s city, using a database of at least 80 local and national outlets that updates hourly,” Bima said.
Localin currently offers Hotel, Eats, News, Event, and Community features. Upcoming features include Movies to help users buy cinema tickets without waiting in line. The community experience will also gain chat functionality.
“Because the pandemic is still ongoing, the event information we provide is currently limited to online events,” he said.
